Design and Looks
The P3470 stands at 108x58.3x15.7 mm and weighs about 122g. The phone has a nice compact design and comes with nice round edges. The phone is light and makes it easy to carry out in and out through various pocket sizes.
The screen on the phone is 2.8 inches wide and is a resistive touch screen with a resolution of 240x320 pixels with a capacity of 65,000 colors. The display is bright and shows vibrant colors. The sunlight eligibility on the phone is average and does a decent job.
Below the screen the phone contains two soft keys along with the call and the end keys. Also, there is Windows and Ok button included. The D-pad on the phone consists of a round ring with the select button at the center, the round disc can be used to scroll through onscreen menus and scroll through emails.
The left hand side of the device just has two simple up and down buttons that are used as volume controls in calls and can be used as scroll buttons through various documents. The right hand side of the phone consists of a camera control button and nothing more. The top of the P3470 houses the power button whereas the bottom part comes with a mini USB connector used for syncing and charging the phone.
Under the hood the phone comprises of 201 MHz CPU along with 128MB of RAM. There is no 3G and Wi-Fi included on the device which is certainly a disappointment. The phone though does come along with integrated GPS which works pretty good with the bundled TomTom 6 software that comes pre installed on the phone. It takes a while to acquire a position fix initially but subsequent uses of the GPS gives a signal more faster.
The HTC P3470 includes a 2.0megapixel camera. The camera on the rear includes a small switch on the outside which allows to change between macro and normal photos. Also included is a self portrait mirror. Sadly there is no flash or autofocus feature on the camera which would be a nice add on. The pictures taken are though of average quality with decent lighting .
The interface on the phone is the Windows Mobile 6 which provides a nice start menu and with few tweaks there are improvements to the quick menu and options on the end call button.
The battery life is pretty decent and does a good job. Overall the phone is a little over priced but may be due to the onboard GPS. It surely lacks 3G and Wi-Fi which would have been great features if included.
