Design and Looks
The phone sports a matt-silver finish with sleek and compact design. Below the screen the D-pad comprises of a flat circular four way navigational button. Along with the D-pad the phone has seven buttons broken down in to five sections. At the bottom the phone features a 3.5mm headphone jack which is a great feature on the phone. It also includes a micro USB connector and volume rocker on the left spine.
On the interface the Sense UI has been and excellent feature from the company. HTC by its default loads up its own widgets on the home screen. The screen on the phone is an 2.8 inch QVGA resistive. The screen is not responsive as Hero but does it jobs on the price tag.
The phone features a fully internet ready device. The browser application on the phone does a great job. The bookmarks on the phone are easy to sort out. The internet is fast but there are no pinch and zoom feature available on the HTC Tattoo. The phone is capable of playing Flash video and plays them well.
The camera on the Tattoo is a 3.2MP camera which does a decent job. The settings on the camera allow to change ISO and white balance settings. There is no flash unfortunately making it very difficult to shoot in low light conditions. The phone is able to record video at 352x288 pixels and has far better outputs.
The Music player on the phone is easy and simple to use and plays about almost any audio files there. The player supports MP3, AAC, AMR-NB, WAV,MIDI and WMA 9. It includes a Cover Flow and the sound quality is acceptable. Radio is also included on the phone which makes a good choice of entertainment when you are exhausted with the onboard music.
On the connectivity front the phone is a Quad band device featuring GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity. There is also Bluetooth support and USB connectivity offered on the phone.
Overall the phone targets the mid-range touch screen market offering the crowd a flavor of Google's Android which had been mostly a high end interface on the HTC portfolio.
