Design and Looks
The handset is one of the smallest touch screens mobile to be ever featured. The phone weighs just about 3.98 ounces, making it fit nicely in the palm and slips easily into the pocket with its dimensions of 3.9x2.8x0.5.
The screen measures at 2.8 inch diagonally and displays 65k colors at 240x320 pixel resolution. The highlight of the touch screen is the TouchFlo technology that makes the finger swipes and taps a possibility. The screen now is smarter enough to make out the difference between a tap and a finger swipe.
The large and comfortable D-pad automatically draws attention with the call and end call key besides it. The left side of the phone houses the volume control whereas the right side of the phone features the camera key, the SIM and the MicroSD slots.
HTC Touch comes along with a meager 2 mega pixel camera onboard which is able to take photos in average fashion. The camera menu although is easy to operate with the fingers. The white balance can be set to custom or range of other options available. Color effects could also be applied. The photos taken with this phone do suffer a detail loss. The camera is not the worst of its kind but certainly needs improvement.
With regards to the connectivity, the HTC Touch offers both wired and wireless options.MiniUSB, Bluetooth 2.0 , GPRS, EDGE and Wi-Fi are at the users finger touch.
The phone comes with internet explorer as the web browser and has several interesting view options such as one can fit the text to the screen and also the landscape view mode. Time management software on the phone are plenty and also included is the MS Office package.
The Windows mobile package includes its new Windows Live messenger replacing the old MSN messenger . The Live Search application can also be downloaded for free.
Overall the phone is compact and stylish and sports above average functionality. Without a hardware keyboard and the new TouchFlo interface makes it seamless to type or use any gestures on the screen. The phone should enjoy a good demand in the market attracting many new touch screen fans.
