Design and Looks
The phone comes in rounded edges making it easier to hold and grip. The phone stands at 107x55x15.8 mm and weighs about 120g. The front part of the phone includes the 2.6 inches screen which is of resistive type touch screen and comes with TouchFLO finger swipe navigation and handwriting recognition. The slide mechanism is smooth and sturdy. The slide reveals the keyboard with keys that are easier to use. For navigation the phone includes the silver five way navigation pad and the call and end key on its respective sides.
On top of the screen there is the video calling camera. The left spine houses the volume controls and the standardized mini-USB port which allows for charging, data transfers and headset connectivity. The right spine therefore contains the shutter button and above lies the slot for the stylus to rest.
The interface on the phone comes as the Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional and features the TouchFLO technology from HTC. The home screen function from HTC is again a good feature offering multiple tabs of constantly used functions. The TouchFlo navigation system makes it easy to use.
The phone is a tri-band version and does not support 850Mhz. There is 3G (UMTS/HSDPA) support for high speed internet access. Unfortunately there is no Wi-Fi on the phone which may disappoint some users but for the broadband the 3G service makes it up nicely. Bluetooth v2.0 is supported for local connection. The stereo Bluetooth support also allows listening to music with wireless headset.
The phone on the handset offers a 2 megapixel sensor and by no means has the company targeted the phone to be a camera featured device. The interface is though simple and easy to use and can be operated by fingers quite easily. There is no autofocus and no flash on the device and taking shots without adequate light is not recommended.
The music player on the phone is the standard Windows Media Player which is able to play the standard media without any problem. There is no support for DivX/Xvid format support and therefore the user has to invest in another player. The audio manager is a nice feature on the HTC Touch Dual and gives a great audio quality output with its equalizer and moreover great user interface. There is no lag present on the video or audio output and the phone is able to play the media with proper synchronization.
Overall the phone is a good choice or people looking out for a touch screen interface and simultaneously want a hardware keyboard for their texting without sacrificing on the size and weight.
