The biggest part of the phone is its screen measuring 3.8 inches which outputs at 480x480 pixels.
The screen is ideal for viewing downloaded video files. The screen is a capacitive touch panel that responds to both finger and stylus.
The interface on the device which mainly is the highlight of the phone is the TouchFLO 3D Home screen. The interface offers a choice of full screen tabs and with rich graphics. Moving through the tabs can be done with a single finger sweep.
This mobile has been the loudest of the pack in the windows mobile category. The phone seems to have a great noise level and dynamic range.
With regards to multimedia, the HTC Touch HD comes with a built in FM radio that requires a headset plugged in to work. It also features the RDS support. With the 3.5mm headset, one need not use the standard headset. The consumer can plug in their favorite headsets in the 3.5mm jack.
The FM radio has excellent interface and offers memory for 20 radio stations. The video player on the phone can only play the standard windows files and does not support Xvid or DivX.
HTC Touch HD offers a breakthrough 5 mega pixel camera for the first time in its portfolio. The phone can shoot images with a resolution of 2592x1944 pixels. The camera only shoots in landscape mode. Auto focus is available and is invoked when the shutter icon on the screen is touched. The camera offers a self timer, white balance presets, as well as color effects and a viewfinder gridline. There is also a front facing video call camera made available.
The HTC Touch HD has quad-band GSM and dual-band UMTS support thus supporting global roaming. The phone features HSDPA 7.2 Mbps, Wi-Fi, and stereo Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR.
The phone is equipped with the latest version of the Opera browser and is touch optimized. The phone browser is still in beta stages and may have some bugs. The phone comes along with Assisted GPS technology and has a built in GPS receiver. It does not come along with GPS navigation software and therefore the consumer may have to purchase a one separately.
Overall the HTC Touch HD is bold step forward making the phone standout in its category. The multimedia capabilities of the phone are impressive and truly make it a good appealing package to various consumers looking for a good touch phone.
