Design and Looks
The phone features a darker shade body with a rubberize finish which is less prone to fingerprints unlike the diamond. The rear design is the same as the HTC Diamond but the front screen does act like a fingerprint magnet. The screen on the phone is 2.8 incher with a VGA resolution which is a highlight of this device. It's capable of displaying 65K colors and is a resistive based touch screen.
The D-pad on the phone is a bit troublesome and requires a little attention when using it. The keyboard on the HTC Touch Pro is a fully featured QWERTY device with 5 rows which are laid as per a computer keyboard.
The interface on this device is the same as the Touch Diamond but the responsiveness and the effects throughout the TouchFLO menu have been greatly improved. The HTC Touch Pro brings about TouchFLO 3D with extra cool looking Home Screen and whole lot of features.
The device supports SMS, MMS and email and the Windows 6.1 interface on the handset comes along with a threaded SMS feature. The camera on the HTC Touch Pro is a 3 megapixel auto focus camera producing photos with a maximum resolution of 2048x1536 pixels. The user interface is good and the phone can also shoot in landscape mode. Sadly there is no dedicated key on the phone to activate the camera. The camera comes with and LED flash for low light shooting but does not help much.
On the connectivity front the phone offers HSDPA 7.2Mbps, Wi-Fi and also stereo Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR. The phone is quad band and thus can be easily used around the world.
The Touch Pro has a good music player which makes use of heavy use of album art. The music can be sorted by artist, genre, composer and purchased tracks. The Equalizer presets are only accessible when the headset is plugged in. There is also an FM radio which has an excellent interface and has memory of 20 radio stations with availability of RDS.
The video player on the device does a nice job but only supports the audio video codec's supported by Windows media player only. The handset features a built in GPS receiver which comes along with a Qualcomm 7200A platform, which also supports the Assisted-GPS technology.
Overall the phone has all the features that takes to be the best phone and therefore comes along with a higher price tag. The price is worth the features offered on the phone making it one of the best in its class.
